Ceilings!

Mom and Dad met us at the new house last night to check out the progress on the house. We have ceilings on the first floor! It's thrilling every time we go over there. I get so excited to see what has happened. This phase is fun because you can really see a lot of change.

Back to Work

Today was my first day back to work... sniffle, sniffle. It went as well as can be expected, there were some nice parts (like the baby gift from Kyle and greetings from co-workers) and some bad (700 unanswered emails to tack care of). 6 weeks have gone so fast. Hard to believe this day is already here. I treasure every moment I had with the family and hope I don't loose balance now that I'm headed back to the office.

Mom kept both the kids and it seems to have gone well. Ava isn't a fan of the low flow bottle tops and had a hard time adjusting to not having the "real thing" - she's up to about 3oz a feeding now which is good! Wyatt has been wide open the last few days. Today he uttered his first bad words, "DAMN IT!". It came out of no where! As funny as it was to hear his little munchkin voice say this, he got quickly corrected. Yesterday Wyatt came over to me, pulled his shirt up to his chin and said "Mommy I feed Ava". Ummmm... how do I explain this one to him!

Wyatt told he he needs glasses to drive and put mine on!
So sweet :)

Ava's 6 Week Check Up

On the way to the Dr.
Today was Ava's 6 week doctor check up. I'm happy to report she is doing great! Our little girl is now 10lbs 9oz, 22 inches long and her head is 38.125cm all of this puts her in the 50-75% for her age. She got 3 shots and an oral vaccination today. I felt so bad that I had to hold her down while the nurse did the dirty work. Broke my heart! But she took it like a champ, screamed like hell for a few seconds then shook it off and went back to normal... John it's your turn to take her next time!

Trick or Treat

 Happy Halloween!

Ava was a little peanut and Wyatt was a peanut farmer. It was cold out so we took the kids trick or treating at the mall. We had a good time but it was REALLY crowded. Wyatt had more fun taking his candy out of the bucket than having anything put in. He did good even though he was tuckered out from a full day of playing at the babysitters. When we got home Wyatt and John sat on the front porch handing out candy to the neighborhood kids. Wyatt got to taste a little candy, he said "yummmmmmm" then decided he likes the "orange" aka kit kat. What can I say, the kid has good taste! Later on he went to the left over candy bowl and brought John every last piece one by one saying "open"!

Whistle While We Work

We've been cookin' with gas around here. Project after project is getting checked off the to-do list! As great as that is I think we are about at our wits end. Both John and I are in zombie mode right now. Between keeping up with Wyatt and Ava and getting the house in tip top shape we've been going non stop. Wyatt LOVES to help by cutting the grass as Ava supervises.

We have replaced the back door, replaced the window molding, painted and fixed pickets on the front porch, pressure washed the whole exterior, taken two trips to Goodwill with a car full, cleaned and the list goes on! Here are a few pictures I've taken so far. More to come:

Up, Up and Away!

Over the last week there has been a lot of activity at the new house!

Friday - October 19, 2012: The flags are out! The lot is pinned and permits posted. What says it's a "touchdown".

Saturday - October 27, 2012: The foundation is in! It was thrilling to see something solid in place. Looks small on the lot, which I guess is a good thing. Plenty of land left for outdoor living. Disappointed because the contractor used the wrong color mortar. We picked gray, but they've used brown. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come. They have promised to make up for the mistake.

Thursday - November 1, 2012: The walls are going up...OMGosh!!!!! I can hardly contain my excitement... Wyatt and I danced around celebrating as John looked on with a laugh (Ava sleeping in the truck - sure she's excited too). The contractor has made up for the mortar mistake. They are giving us an extra window on the back of the house. I'm very excited about this because we'll have more natural light coming in and we'll be able to see more of the beautiful woods behind us.

Family Time in Urbanna before the Storm

I have a lot of catching up to do here. We got our internet back today! Ever since Hurricane Sandy knocked out our power on Sunday night we've been doing without. That's the only problem we had from this epic storm and I'm counting us lucky. Central VA was hardly touched. I hear Poppop still is without power and Deb and Al lost power and had flooding in their basement.

Before the storm hit we spent our first overnight as a fam at the cottage. The place is looking incredible! Mom and Dad have taken this empty shell of potential to a "Captain's Cottage". Despite the pending doom and gloom of the hurricane we had a great time. Mom and I did a little shopping in Urbanna while Dad and John burnt a brush pile from the size of the truck down to ashes. Then we feasted on clams and blue crabs... it was heaven!
